Information Sheet for Applicants

  1. Introduction

Set out below are guidelines to assist officers prepare their applications for compensation to the Statutory and Other Offices Remuneration Tribunal. These guidelines are not exhaustive and, as there is no set format for making application, ALL material considered relevant should be included.
  1. Matters to be included in applications

Curriculum vitae - including age, qualifications, experience, contact telephone number and residential address (for correspondence) as well as any other relevant information.

Contract details - Include position title; SES Level, contract term, current remuneration as well as last day of duty.

Circumstances surrounding the termination of contract - Applications should indicate the reasons for the termination of the contract, eg. restructure of the agency or abolition

of the position. The application should also indicate the amount of notice given.

Impact of termination - Applicants should include details of such matters as likelihood of obtaining alternative employment, financial implications of the termination/non renewal.

Other Matters - include any other matters you think the Tribunal should take into consideration in determining what compensation is appropriate.

  1. General

To ensure delays are kept to an absolute minimum, applications should be submitted to your CEO who will forward the application and the Department’s comments direct to the Tribunal. The CEO’s response will be made available to the officer on request. Applications from CEOs should be sent direct to the address above. The Tribunal will arrange to obtain any further information from the Director General of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Following receipt of all information the Tribunal will make its determination based on the individual circumstances of the case. Applicants will be notified of the Tribunal's decision as soon as possible after a determination has been made.

  1. Timing

Subject to the Tribunal’s availability, officers can expect determinations to be made within five days of receipt of the application and the CEO’s response.
